If you want to start using the standard Blue10 Power BI reports, you need to follow a few steps. This article explains how to get started quickly. Another article explains the content of the reports. Read more here. If you want to start creating a report yourself, click here.
Downloading reports
The Blue10 Enterprise subscription gives you access to the various reports. The reports are available for download in Blue10 via Management > Reporting. To do this, you need administrator rights in Blue10. The reports are available separately in Dutch or English. After downloading, store the files in a secure location. Don’t have an Enterprise subscription yet? Request one below using the form.
Activating reports in Power BI
You need an API key to load data from your Blue10 environment. This key connects the Blue10 database to Power BI so that the current data can be retrieved. You only need to connect once. After that, depending on your Power BI version, you can choose to refresh the reports automatically or manually.
Step 1: Create an API key
- In Blue10, go to Management > API key management
- Click on New API key to create a new key
- Create a name and description for the key and click on Next. The API key will now appear once. Make sure you save it securely, for example in a password management tool.
- Click on Confirm when you want to close the screen. The overview lists the API keys that have been used. Please note that this is not the key itself.
Step 2: Connect Blue10 to PowerBI
- Open the desired report in Power BI Desktop
- A pop-up will open asking for a token. Enter the API key from step 1 and click on Load.
- Now click on File > Save as and save the file as a .pbix file. Please note: if you continue to work in Power BI Desktop, open this file when you want to view the report. It is important to refresh the report repeatedly using the Refresh button so that the most up-to-date data is visible.
- If you are going to use the report in Power BI Online, click Publish in Power BI and select a workspace of your choice.
Then click on the three dots next to the report you just published and click on Settings. Under the heading Refresh, you can choose a refresh schedule. Set the slider to On and set the frequency to Daily. The report will then refresh automatically every day.
Sharing reports with colleagues
Share a report of your choice with colleagues within your organisation. This only works in the online environment, which requires a Power BI Pro licence. You must therefore specify for each report who you want to share it with.
- Open the report in the online environment
- Click on Share and enter the names of the desired persons
- Click on Send
If you have set up automatic refresh for the report, your colleagues with whom you have shared the report will also immediately see the current data.
