Creating New Company – Finance & Operations

To make a booking, a connection between Blue10 and the accounting system is required. To link Blue10 to an administration in the accounting system, you need to create a New Company in Blue10. This retrieves suppliers and other master data, so they can be used in Blue10.

Step-by-Step Guide to Create a New Company

Follow these steps to connect Blue10 with Finance & Operations:

  1. Click on Settings > Companies to open the Company Overview.
  2. Click the + New Company button.
  3. Enter the name of the administration. This name is visible to all users in Blue10.
  4. Select the accounting system, D365 F&O and click Create new Company.
  5. A new window will open. Under Base Information, enter the following details:
    • VAT number: Enter the VAT number of the administration.
    • Chambre of Commerce number: Enter the Chamber of Commerce number of the administration.
    • IBAN number: Enter the IBAN number of the administration.
    • Country: This setting is by default set to NL – Netherlands (the). Adjust if necessary.
    • Currency: This setting defaults to EUR. Adjust if necessary.
    • Use the packing slip module: This is set to “Yes” by default. Select “No” if the company doesn’t use packing slips to process together with purchase invoices. Want to know more? Read more here.
  6. Coding in Blue10: set to “Yes” if you want to include booking rules from Blue10 to Finance & Operations.
  7. VAT information: if VAT may be deducted, leave the setting on “Yes”. If you set the setting to “No”, no VAT will be deducted. A question then appears asking if the deductible VAT is allowed to be modified. Choose “Yes” or “No”. If you choose “Yes”, the validation screen will give you the option to select “Edit VAT” so that VAT can still be included. You can fil in the “Default VAT code” setting after synchronizing the master data.
  8. Under Invoice Line Information, go through the following settings. Make sure they match the settings in Finance & Operations:
    • Show dimension 1 on invoice line: set to Yes to code on Dimension 1
    • Show dimension 2 on invoice line: set to Yes to code on Dimension 2
    • Show dimension 3 on invoice line: set to Yes to code on Dimension 3
    • Show dimension 4 on invoice line: set to Yes to code on Dimension 4
    • Show dimension 5 on invoice line: set to Yes to code on Dimension 5
    • Show deferred code on invoice line: set to Yes to code on Deferred code
  9. Under ERP Adapter Information, enter the following information:
    • Company code: Enter the name of the administration.
    • Tenant ID: Enter the Tenant ID. You can find this in Finance & Operations.
    • Client ID: Enter the Client ID. You can find this in Finance & Operations.
    • Client secret: Enter the Client secret. You can find this in Finance & Operations.
    • Resource URL: Enter the WebService adres.
  10. Under Journals go through the following fields:
    • Default registration journal: Enter the default registration journal in which purchase invoices should be registered in Finance & Operations.
    • Approval journal: Enter the approval journal.
  11. Are you working with purchase orders? Then it is required to fill the Logistics adapter under Logistics Adapter information with one of the following options:
    • Select None if not working with purchase orders. This option is filled in by default.
    • Select ERP if purchase orders are registered in the accounting system.
    • Select API if the purchase orders are registered in the logistics package that is linked via an API. Then select an API feature set. The API feature set determines which functionalities/features/options from the logistics package are available in Blue10.
    • Select Greencommerce if purchase orders are registered in Greencommerce.
  12. Under Additional settings, there are various settings to further adapt Blue10 to Business Central:
    • Payment date is available in ERP: Choose Yes to set the invoice to Paid with a payment date. The payment date is thereby retrieved from the accounting system through overnight synchronisation. Choose No to set the invoice to Paid without a payment date.
    • Use payment reference: Choose Yes to add a payment reference to payments. Choose No to not include a payment reference.
    • Add PDF/XML to the invoice: Choose Yes to add the pdf file to the booking in Business Central. Choose No to not use this setting.
    • Default date format for suppliers: Choose DD/MM/YYYY to use date registration with the day before the month. Choose MM/DD/YYYY to use date registration with the month before the day.
  13. Click Save to create the link between Blue10 and Finance & Operations.
